Indian Journal of Horticulture, an official publication of the Indian Academy of Horticultural Sciences (Formerly the Horticultural Society of India). The journal is being published since 1943 without interruption. It is published quarterly in March, June, September and December. Original research findings in all the branches of Horticulture and allied subjects from India and abroad are published after stringent peer review by highly competent reviewers and the editorial team. Efforts were made by the editor-in-chief and editorial team to maintain the standard and timeliness of the journal. It has two Advisory Boards i.e. National Advisory Board and the International Advisory Board comprising eminent scientists/ researchers/ subject matter specialists to assist the editorial team in the review process, early processing and maintaining the quality of research articles. The academy acknowledges these scientists/ faculty assisting the editorial team for the review of manuscripts by publishing their names every six months in the journal. The printing of the journal is timely and up-to-date and it is dispatched/mailed to members and subscribers as a hard copy/ soft copy as per the choice.

The first issue of the Indian Journal of Horticulture had notes, reviews and messages by Sardar Jogendra Singh Kit, the then Member of the Governor-General’s Council for Education, Health and Lands, Govt. of India; and Dr. W. Burns, the then Vice Chairman, Imperial Council of Agricultural Research, Delhi apart from research articles of eminent scientists. 

Over the years, this prestigious journal has been transformed by the dedicated editorial team for maintaining its highest standard of research publications in the field of horticulture and allied sciences. To accommodate research papers from a wide range of horticultural crops currently, the publications have been categorized under three major sections viz. I. Crop Improvement, II. Crop Production and III. Post-harvest technology & trade.

 

The Indian Journal of Horticulture portal is available in the website of the Indian Academy of Horticultural Sciences (https://journal.iahs.org.in/index.php/ijh) and online editorial management is fully functional since 1.1.2023. To publish the valuable research findings in a rapid manner a system of “on-line first” publication has been incorporated in the new IJH portal.
