Abstract

Lettuce is a herbaceous self-pollinated annual belongs to family composite. It is a major salad crop in North America, Australia and most countries in Europe and South America. In India, it is grown in the kitchen gardens and to meet the demand of continental hotels. It is unique among major vegetables in its nearly exclusive use as a fresh raw product.
