Abstract

Chilli is one of the most important vegetable crops grown worldwide. In India, it is the leading spice crop contributing maximum in production and export. Several biotic and abiotic stresses confront its cultivation and hence genetic transformation may offer some solutions. Tissue culture is an ideal technique for rapid clonal multiplication and complete regeneration of transformed cell/tissue in any plant species. It is most difficult to regenerate under in vitro conditions (Ranjan et al., 6).
