Abstract
Identification of genotypes with enhanced health promoting compounds in grape berries is an important area of research for development of nutraceutically rich varieties. The present experiment was conducted on 29 grape genotypes of diverse origin for various health promoting compounds for two seasons (2018 and 2019). The content of bioactive compound varied significantly for of total monomeric anthocyanins (37.54 to 863.97 mg/kg in coloured genotypes), total phenolics (57.13 to 339.07 μg/ml GAE), total flavonoids (68.80 to 209.87 mg QE/g fw), DDPH (2.72 to 11.54 μg TE/g fw), CUPRAC (3.82 to 43.73 μg TE/g fw) andFRAP (1.28 to 14.12 μg TE/g fw) activity. ‘Black Prince’ was found most promising in terms of higher amount of total phenolics, CUPRAC and FRAP antioxidant activities; ‘Pusa Navrang’ for total monomeric anthocyanins and ‘Punjab Purple’ and ‘Centennial Seedless’ ‘for total flavonoid and DPPH antioxidant activity. The information is useful for the improvement of phytochemical rich grape varieties.
